Broad Street Youth Weekly Update Dec. 19

Merry Christmas!!

We still need several more families to make the commitment to our 2012 fundraiser, Mulch Madness.  It is not necessary for you to commit to a specific date, just that you support the idea and will do your best to contribute to the work effort. Please email me if you haven't already done so!

This week
Christmas Eve Services (Sanctuary) - 5pm and 11pm
Christmas Day Worship - 10:45 services only (Traditional and Contemporary)
Sunday school will not meet on Christmas Day.

January 8
GLOW at 4pm in Youth Department
High School Youth Gathering - 6:30pm - Zaxby's on 25th St

January 11 - N*Light*N rehearsals begin - 6:10pm

Saturday, January 14 - Service Project - ARK - 12pm-3pm - Walking Dogs, building a small fence.

BSUMC Youth Weekly Update Dec. 12

Hello Youth, Parents and Leaders!  Here are this weeks updates:

Tomorrow/Tuesday, December 13 from 5-6:30pm - Youth Caroling!  We will join others from our church family to sing carols at Bradley Healthcare.  Youth can meet at church for a ride or meet at Bradley Healthcare.  Please note, we will depart from the church promptly at 5pm - arrive early! 

This Sunday, December 18

Middle School Christmas Party 4pm - 6:30pm at BSUMC Youth Dept. - Bring a wrapped gift ($10 or less, please) for a White Elephant Game.  If your gift is gender specific, please mark it on the outside!

Pigskin Christmas - High School Guys - 4pm at the Everley's

Christmas Dinner and Dessert - High School Girls - Meet at Chili's at 6pm, then you'll head back to Sheryl Bacon's for Dessert.  Bring a $10 gift for a gift exchange!


Also, don't forget to register for Warmth in Winter!

Broad Street Youth Weekly Update 12-5-11

We are already in the second week of Advent!

Here are this week's announcements:

• Please remember to send me an email regarding your family's involvement in Mulch Madness!
• This Saturday, December 10, youth will help with our totally free, no-strings-attached gift wrapping outreach at Books-a-Million from 9am - 4pm.  We will help wrap gifts or hold signs to increase traffic.  Contact Yvette Mehling at 326-6391 to reserve your time!
• This Sunday, December 11, the youth will go to Chattanooga for lunch and a movie.  Be sure to bring money ($15-$20 should be sufficient).  We'll leave following the later services and return around 5pm.  Youth will text parents with the specific time of our return.  If your youth is planning to attend, it would be helpful (but not necessary) to let me know so we can assure adequate transportation.

Broad Street Youth Weekly Update 12/01/11

December already?!?!

May you experience the joy and hope of this season!

Here's what's coming up for the youth:

• December 4 (this Sunday) - Hanging of the Greens at 6:30pm.  N*Light*N will meet in the Children's Choir Room at 6pm. 
• December 10 (Saturday) - Gift wrapping at Books-a-Million (9am-2pm)! We will help wrap or hold signs to increase traffic.  Contact Yvette Mehling to reserve your time!

Broad Street Youth Weekly Update 11/15/11

Hello Youth, Parents, and Leaders!

Just a couple of announcements this week:

• Be sure to check out our new youth newsletter coming to you in the mail.  It has everything you need to know from now until December and includes dates to help you plan 2012!

• Tomorrow is the Early Bird Deadline for Warmth in Winter!  We already have a bunch of youth who have registered.  SPACE IS LIMITED!  I'm serious about this!  I've booked a block of hotel rooms.  When they are full, our trip will be closed because there are no more rooms available.  Register early to save money and secure a place on this meaningful event!

• This Sunday, Nov. 20 - GLOW meets at 4pm - Youth who are writing video segments should bring them at that time.  All 7th-8th grade youth are invited to attend.  

• High school small groups meet this Sunday as well - Boys at 4pm at Alex Everley's House.  Girls at 6:30pm at Sheryl Bacon's house.  Contact me for directions to either location.
• Check out our new youth ministry website!  It's still under construction but will be live and linked to the church's web page soon.  http://www.broadstreetyouth.blogspot.com/

BSUMC Youth Weekly Update 11/11/11

Happy Eleven Eleven Eleven Day!  It only happens once a century!

Here are this weeks important announcements:

THE EARLY BIRD REGISTRATION DEADLINE FOR WARMTH IN WINTER IS THIS WEDNESDAY, NOV. 16!  Youth need both the BSUMC permission form and the "Young People's Ministry Event Registration form.  Both are available at the Youth Ministries Display in Triplett Hall. 

Second Saturday Service Project - We will be working on the Disc Golf Course at Johnston Woods on Saturday, November 12 from 9am-12pm.  Bring a shovel and work gloves.  Lunch will be provided for all the youth workers.

N*Light*N Retreat is this weekend at Johnston Woods.  Meet at Hurt Lodge at 1pm.  Pick up will be at church following the 10:45 services. 

During Sunday school this week, youth will help to clear out the furniture in preparation for the arrival of our overnight guests from Family Promise.  There's still time to BRING-A-BOOK!

Broad Street Youth Weekly Update 11/2/11

Hello!

Here are this week's announcements:

• This Sunday, Nov. 6 - Our parent meeting will be in the Chapel (to the left of the Narthex, near the Sanctuary).  We will begin the meeting at 9:40am.  We have much information to cover, please plan to attend!
• Also this Sunday, Nov. 6 is our Youth Campfire, Cookout and Hayride.  We will meet at 5pm at the Pavilion at Hurt Lodge and will be finished by 7pm.  Youth are asked to bring $5 to help with the cost of the hayride and food - hot dogs, marshmallows, and drinks.  This is gonna be a fun night!
• We are trying something new!  You should have received the information and registration for for Warmth in Winter in the mail last week.  Held in Murfreesboro, Warmth in Winter is the winter youth conference we are attending this year.  The dates for the event are January 27-29, 2012.  This looks like a fantastic event for youth!  I have been in contact with other churches who attend Warmth regularly and their youth love it!  Be sure to see our Warmth in Winter FAQs for more information.  Broad Street's registration deadline is November 16!
• To ensure that everyone has a clear understanding, we are not attending Resurrection this January.  We are attending Warmth in Winter instead.  Please direct any questions you may have about this to me, Wes Pardue, at 476-5586 or wespardue@bsumc.org. 
• N*Light*N - Our retreat is just a few days away.  We will meet at 1pm on Nov. 12 at Hurt Lodge.  Register today!

October 24 Announcements

Trunk-or-Treat
The leaves are changing!  It's time for Trunk-or-Treat!  This year's theme is all about Sports.  Come dressed as your favorite player, sports team, or get creative...we might have a disc golfer running around.  Be in the Church parking lot at 5pm to help with the games!  Food will be provided.  N*Light*N will meet at 6:30pm.
